Another One Bites The Dust!

Another One Bites The Dust!

Christmas, 2017 is over. It is time to deconstruct and put everything away in an organized fashion so it is all ready for Christmas, 2018.

My Christmas tree went up early! So it came down early also.  So maybe I can inspire you with some tips for your own clean up? All my breakable ornaments get stored in a china storage container inside the house, I store it in my bench window seat cabinet, so it is safe and never gets broken. You can see it n the bottom right corner of the picture.

Another One Bites The Dust

My Christmas Tree Deconstructed. I keep my totes of Christmas Decorations outside in my garage area, so first I took everything off the tree and put it out on the kitchen table.  It may have been easier if I lugged in all the totes first? However, I was in my jammies when I started so I saved the tote lugging for later.

I grouped like with like and put everything away in to the totes. All the lights are together in one tote. Ribbons together. Flowers together. Etcetera. Etcetera.

I LIKE CLEANING! AND OTHER SICK AND TWISTED IDEAS!

I LIKE CLEANING! AND OTHER SICK AND TWISTED IDEAS!

Cleaning gives me instant gratification.  I can workout for one hour and I will not see the results instantly conversely if I spend an hour cleaning I can see the results!  Living in a clean and sparkling house feels amazing.  Sleeping in clean and soft sheets feels amazing.

Today is Sunday I sat down this morning and solved the problem of too many lids in my pots and pan drawer!  I feel so satisfied to have finally made it organized and easy.

You can save yourself hours of time if you clean up as you go.  Wash up the dishes while you are cooking and either put them away or in the dishwasher. Wipe off the kitchen counter when you are done cooking also. Wipe off the bathroom counter and sink after you wash up and brush your teeth. If you complete these little steps all week long you will NOT have to spend the weekend cleaning up after yourself.

When you do clean the whole room.  Start at the top and move to the bottom.  Start on the right and move to the left.  This makes sure nothing gets skipped or has to be cleaned twice.

By limiting or de-cluttering all your knick knacks ..you will have less things to dust and clean!  If you put all your equipment away OFF the kitchen counter, they will stay cleaner.

If you purge your unworn clothing it can be a blessing for someone who needs it. This past weekend there were so many places accepting donations of all kinds, for victims of Hurricane Harvey.  Everyday there is probably someone who is in great need of a pair of shoes or slacks that WE never wear or use. St. Vincent de Paul, The Rescue Mission and Pick Up Please will all come out and pick up items upon request.

MY TRIP TO THE DOLLAR TREE AND THE $.99 STORE! EASY ORGANIZING!

MY TRIP TO THE DOLLAR TREE AND THE $.99 STORE! EASY ORGANIZING!

I spent $20.00 and here is what I got.

my trip to the dollar store

I was really having an issue with my tea bag cupboard.

my trip to the dollar store

As you can see the boxes of tea bags were taking up my whole cupboard which is small to begin with.  Thanks to some little blue trays (the trays are the perfect size for teabags!) and an index card holder which I want another one to add to the door here is what it looks like after! No more huge teabag boxes taking up so much space!

My lids were bugging me in my pots and pan cupboard!

BEFORE                      AFTER

my knee ugh!       my trip to the dollar store

So to solve my lid problem I just used more of the little plastic dollar store hooks to hook them to the cabinet.  They just hang there until I need them.  I did the same with my cutting plastics.  Now if you have really heavy pot lids or cutting boards you will have to use hooks that are little more sturdy than the ones I used.

The other issue I was having that I wanted to solve was my problem of never being able to find my chapstick when I'm in the living room.....so I bought these cute little magnet holders and I put a chapstick in one and stuck it to my coffee table so...I will always be able to find my chapstick when I'm in the living room without having to run around the house looking for one.  Yes, I know I am lazy!  I also stuck one on the fridge and I love them!  I always have a chapstick near me now.

The blue folder I used to group all my tax information for next year together.  The fact you can see through the envelopes make them wonderful, I do not even have to label them. The second blue file folder I used to file my business license and information about Festival Booth Rentals.

Also I do not like leaving my hair brush on the counter in my bathroom.  I wasn't sure what to do with it.....so I just attached some velcro fasteners to it and stuck to the vanity door....I put my hair rubber-bands on a clip and hung them in my bathroom as well.

My last  solution was to just hang a little folder by my computer to put bills in that need to be paid. I pay most of my bills on line but my car registration bill still comes in the mail. It is red so I know there are things inside it that I need to remember to take action on.

All I have left are some extra hooks and velcro fasteners and two magnets containers I'm storing those along with my extra batteries in the little plastic box with dividers you see in the picture above...hmmmmmm.

I really thought my house was totally de-cluttered but now that I have started....I am finding more and more things around that are just not up to my future self's standards.  My pot holders for one, they must be 20 years old! Have you looked at your's lately? And the two skinny drawers in my china hutch, I took a peek and found a whole bunch of old credit cards so now those are all cut up and gone.  I also noticed two rubber maids of clothing up in my closet.  I stored them when I moved in three years ago and I have not touched them surely if I have not worn anything in there for three years I do not need that stuff.
